faitiche edition (concerts on tape)

New series of concerts on tape cassette. The recordings are not available digitally. faitiche edtion no.1 is a concert by Sven-Åke Johansson and Jan Jelinek for seven dictaphones and a Turkish cymbal at Galerie Sexauer, Berlin - Sept 27th 2023.  

For this performance, Jan Jelinek used seven dictaphones, each containing the recording of a pure sinewave tone. Like a slow motion thimblerigger, he moved these devices in front of two directional microphones, causing their overtone spectrums to shift. The resulting drones were accompanied by Sven-Åke Johansson playing a 21-inch cymbal with a bow.

The concert was part of the exhibition Wenn die Sirenen heulen (it’s on us), curated by Anne Mundo and Dirk Teschner, with the artists Martin Assig, Aram Bartholl, Hannah Hallermann, Verena Issel, Nik Nowak, Anne Mundo and Raul Walch.
